LORINA SPARKLING ORANGEADE

What is it about the French? They’ve patented a certain “je ne sais quoi” attitude about life—why worry about strong unfiltered cigarettes, bottles of wine, rich food, and afternoon sex? Besides all these major contributions to Western Civilization, the French have made an art of bottling sparkling citrus favored beverages.

It all started when Orangina hit upscale supermarkets and groceries. The small bottle with its textured citrus skin is a work of art. But lately, in this area, they’ve surpassed even their own high standards—with the recent introduction of Lorina Sparkling Orangeade. Lorina’s been around since 1895 and what a punch it packs. It’s a highly carbonated orange beverage that is not too sweet; it delivers a potent citrus flavor along with a bracing blast of carbonated water. It’s what beverage distributors call an adult soda. I can attest to the fact that when you open the bottle and pour it over ice, it delivers an adult wallop of energy without one iota of caffeine. Who needs Red Bull?
