We’re happy to announce that on April 1, we are launching a new way to pay our members for their great product reviews. We will be raising our per video compensation to $10, but only for videos that meet our new higher quality standards. These standards require more personal product experience, and better product demonstration.
Before shoppers buy, they visit ExpoTV to watch videos on everything from digital camera reviews to car seat reviews and video game reviews. Product researchers want to see honest, helpful product reviews and we are going to compensate accordingly for videos that offer just that.

A couple of weeks ago I recorded a podcast with my friend Steve Reale at Levensohn Venture Partners on how to raise money from angel investors. It’s here (you may need to scroll up or down, I don’t think there’s a way to link specifically to the one post). Hope you enjoy!
Brands are expressing interest in engaging with the ExpoTV community in new and exciting ways. Some brand managers have asked us if you’d be interested in getting free products and samples before they are available to the public.
If you are interested in the idea, please take our Product Preview Survey and we’ll add you to our list of potential product testers for future opportunities.
To participate in the survey, click here. The survey will take approximately 2 minutes to complete.
Dirt Devil’s got a new line of Karim Rashid-designed vacuums that look just as great as they clean. The Kone is a small, handheld vacuum that you’ll WANT to leave sitting out on the counter, ready to pick up your messes. Check our our video from the 2008 Chicago Home Show:
On to a vacuum of a different type. We also talked to FoodSaver at the Home Show about their new 3000 Vacuum Sealer. This unit sucks the air out of food storage bags to keep food fresh longer - and it’s totally hands-free once you put the bag into the unit. Prevents freezer burn and extends the lift of leftovers! Watch how it works here:
ExpoTV member and 2008 NY Auto Show Press Pass host highmileage got to visit Suzuki at the trade show to get a close look at their latest concept car, the Kizashi 3. This one’s got LED headlights & tail lamps, athletic detailing, and plenty of high style. It’s likely this version will be closest to the production model - so take a look at our video footage to see what might be coming to market:
We hit up the Aston Martin booth at the 2008 NY Auto Show last week to get a close up look at their DBS - the production version of 007’s ride. No machine guns here, but keyless ignition and a luxury finish make this subtle but slick vehicle appear pure Bond.
Brew single servings of coffee, tea, cappucinos, and more at home with Tassimo’s Hot Beverage System. Bosch came up with this amazing gadget that uses real milk. Smart technology scans barcodes on beverage pods to tell the appliance exactly what type of beverage to make. No muss, no fuss. Tassimo’s new system is available this coming September. Watch ExpoTV’s video from the 2008 Chicago Home Show to see all the great features of this cool kitchen product.
We met with Smart at the 2008 NY Auto Show to find out about this teeny fortwo model - “for two” passengers. The car’s size is ideal for city dwellers. It’s structurally sound with a reinforced steel cage much like Nascar roll cages, and includes electronic stability program. Small can be safe too. Watch and see why!
Hamilton Beach’s Smart Toast Toaster not only looks sleek and fits into tight counter spaces, it also fits larger-than-average slices of bread. Looking for a toaster that can handle your bagels? This is the one for you - it will toast one side of the bagel, and even has settings for both frozen and room temperature breads. See all the handy features on this small kitchen appliance in our video from the 2008 Chicago Home Show:
Another cool kitchen gadget we found at the Home show is OXO’s Julienne Mandolin. Make perfect veggie slices with this compact, handheld kitchen doodad that saves time & your fingers! Your family and friends will think a professional chef did the work for you. Also comes with a hand guard and is dishwasher safe. What could be better?
