Final Details of Relaunch Revealed — All-New Rewards Program

September 16th, 2009

The entire relaunch is designed around one simple goal – rebuilding the site to meet the varying needs of our community. Every member has their own needs and uses the site in their own way. The new profile pages are designed to allow you to let your personality shine through and the private profile is a tool designed to let you take control of your participation.

So, it’s only fitting that we put the incentives in your control too! Starting September 29th we will transition to a point-based rewards program that will award points to you for various site activities. You will earn points for many of the same activities that you are currently getting compensated for, plus you will now be able to earn points for other activities that you weren’t rewarded for in the old system.

Here’s a look at the new area in your profile to keep track of the points you’ve earned and what you’ve redeemed points for:

And here’s a overview of most of the site activities that will earn you points:
• Sharing information about yourself (this also helps you get selected for more programs)
• Reviewing products
• Taking surveys
• Answering questions about products you’ve reviewed
• Participating in video assignments
• Inviting friends to join Expo
• And More!

The points that you will earn for these activities will have real value good towards merchandise and gift cards within the Expo Store. The best part about it this new points-based program is that you can choose when and how often to cash in your points — no more waiting! Plus, the Expo Store houses tons of products such as ring tones, kitchen gadgets, kids toys and games, gift cards, and even large electronics like a flat screen TV.

Here’s a preview of what the Expo Store will look like when redeeming points:

We’re really excited about this new rewards program and can’t wait to hear your feedback! From now until the official relaunch, we will provide you with more details on the Expo Store and the types of things you can redeem your points for. As much as all this sounds good, I’m sad I won’t actually be adding money to my paypal account. It was the only way I could buy some things I needd on-line. Oh well.

  • 11. thr33  |  September 16th, 2009 at 6:03 pm

I’m bummed that we won’t actually be getting cash for each review like the good old days. cash > points. I’m guessing to be able to “buy” anything from the store will cost thousands of points which will take way longer than I would want to spend on my computer.

I’ll check it out anyway of course, because expotv has been so good to me.

  • 12. Person  |  September 16th, 2009 at 6:18 pm

Congratulations, Expo! You have just turned yourself into crap as every other “points” site has.

  • 13. Tara  |  September 16th, 2009 at 7:02 pm

Yeah I rather have the cash , I will prob not use the site as much now.

  • 14. Vivian Neal  |  September 16th, 2009 at 7:09 pm

    too good it is

  • 15. Harrison  |  September 16th, 2009 at 8:08 pm

Expo was awesome when they offered money for a review of a product, they seem to be more focused on promotion now, don’t care about reviews.

  • 16. Carol  |  September 16th, 2009 at 8:29 pm

    No thank you.

i am so glad about this new program. i like to earn points

  • 19. David  |  September 17th, 2009 at 1:31 am

im sure they will continue to have cash prizes.well at least i hope which is what set EXPO apart from the rest. sure, it not like how it used to be $5-$10 dollars per review 200-250 max per month. this was way back then. but maybe it wont be too bad? ive been with expo ever since they first started. very trustworthy company in my opinion.

  • 22. Amanda  |  September 17th, 2009 at 7:38 am

I’m sorry to say that alot of people like cash. But hey it may be worth a try.
    Thanks

  • 23. Jason  |  September 17th, 2009 at 8:49 am

I’m curious, will we continue to get paid for our current videos? Pay per play? Maybe you should offer a choice of either cashing out points for cash or for prices. Assign a monetary value to each point.

  • 24. peted  |  September 17th, 2009 at 12:08 pm

I could see this coming. I have noticed that most of my friends on EXPO stopped uploading video when they stopped paying for each video. Most of us put time and effort into our videos to try to get the best end result. It is not worth the effort for “points”. I guess this will be the end of EXPO TV for me. This had been a nice way to make honest reviews people could use and make a few bucks to use on paypal purchases.

  • 25. Carol Rawls  |  September 17th, 2009 at 12:21 pm

I have noticed EXPO going down hill for a while now. I would get accepted to try a product for them and most of the time I never got the product and now this?? Oh well…….like I said……I never knew if I was going to get the product I was promised or not anyway…….

  • 26. Jess  |  September 17th, 2009 at 4:39 pm

    In response to Jason’s comment…

All current incentive programs, including PPP, will sunset on September 27, so we can implement all the new functionality and programs for the relaunch.

Your second point is spot on… we will be allowing members to choose what they get with their points. you will be able to redeem them for merchandise or get gift cards to many different businesses.

  • 27. Jess  |  September 17th, 2009 at 4:41 pm

Carol, so sorry to hear that you never received the product after qualifying for a program. If you email us at contactus@expotv.com we will do our best to look into your situation. Thanks Jess!

  • 28. Meg Moen  |  September 18th, 2009 at 1:58 am

    Looks good to me!

  • 29. Christina  |  September 21st, 2009 at 2:45 pm

I don’t think I’ll enjoy this at all. I will try it but all the points sites require way to much involvement. I’d say after the points system I’ll not be using this site anymore.

  • 30. DW  |  September 21st, 2009 at 5:23 pm

I too quit doing as many expo videos when expo quit paying for each video. I don’t do the videos unless there is a payment. But the points to redeem for gift cards will be nice if it doesn’t take forever to earn the points. And if Expo gives alot of different opportunities and ways to earn these points. Lately expo hasn’t had a lot of money making video opportunities so maybe this will get better with the points. Hope so!! I can’t wait to see. I have actually been looking at other rewards sites lately since expo hasn’t had much opportunities. But I have been with expo awhile and trust them so now I will wait to see if they will have a good deal with the points. I want to earn points to buy Christmas presents :) And of course I always search expo reviews before I buy items!

  • 33. JerryG  |  September 28th, 2009 at 1:29 pm

Woo hoo….I can’t wait to come in Tuesday morning to see the new design.
