Jivox just announced new partnerships with a number of web companies, including ExpoTV. Here’s what our very own Daphne Kwon, CEO, had to say about the partnership:
“ExpoTV has built an engaged audience of highly targeted viewers, making our site an ideal environment for small and local businesses to advertise relevant offers to new customers. We’re pleased to be working with Jivox to deliver video ads within our social network….Integrating Jivox into the site was simple, and we were able to begin serving video ads almost immediately.”

Makeuseof.com has published their list of “The Best Websites for Gadget Freaks” - and ExpoTV made the list. They also linked to their earlier, recent article about us in yesterday’s post. Here’s what they had to say about us in the original article:
“You can find almost anything here, starting from car reviews to snazzy Dell laptops, giant LCD TVs and even iPhone. So if you ever want to see the product on the video and listen to what average consumers are saying about the product you want to buy then ExpoTV seems to be the right right place.”
We appreciate the recognition! If you’d like to take a look at video reviews of gadgets made by real consumers on ExpoTV, this page is a good starting point.
ExpoTV is featured in a recent book release by Forrester Research analysts Charlene Li and Josh Bernoff. The book is called Groundswell: Winning in a World Transformed by Social Technologies. Forrester’s blog has a great post summarizing the book and the startup companies it analyzes. Here’s a brief excerpt:
“Ratings and reviews are the easiest way to energize customers to sell others, and the companies that provide them are taking off….ExpoTV has built a business around consumers creating reviews on video.”
Crain’s New York Business published a great article about ExpoTV last week. The article talks about our unique combination of user-generated content and product information for consumers.
Excerpt from the article: Product reviews pepper the Web, but ExpoTV’s are different. Generated by users, they are intimate and therefore more powerful, says founder Daphne Kwon. The 260,000 video-based consumer reviews on the site are attracting serious buyers. Site visitors who click through to the linked shopping engine purchase products about 20% of the time.
Will Richmond, president of consulting firm Broadband Directions is quoted as saying “You’ll randomly find other product-related video, but…ExpoTV is a more valuable resource.” To read the full article, click here.
Each year, media company Red Herring reveals a list of the Top 100 North American Startups. This year, ExpoTV has been named one of these top 100! We were selected from thousands of web companies. The award recognizes the 100 most innovative private technology companies based in North America. Past years’ lists have recognized businesses like Google, YouTube, eBay, and Skype. This recognition is a strong validation of our continued growth and market leadership in the sharing and exchange of consumer information.
Mashable published a great article about ExpoTV’s new ‘Ask An Owner’ feature. We’re excited to see good response to this feature, which allows online shoppers to pose questions about products to ExpoTV community members who actually own them.
Daphne Kwon, CEO and Bill Hildebolt, President were invited to participate in a Q&A on “How to Measure Innovation” by the New York Times, Freakonomics Blog. Other participates include Ashish Arora, John Seely Brown, and Mark Turrell.
“As a start-up company trying to pioneer a new industry, measuring innovation poses an especially tough challenge. Success by traditional metrics — revenue and profits — only becomes evident after you’ve become successful. In fact, early innovation often looks like idiocy and idiocy can masquerade as innovation.”
ExpoTV has yet another simple way to let our community keep track what’s going on in our world — you can now follow us at Twitter.com. You’ll be able to get updates on the latest and greatest video product reviews, plus announcements and more.
